Friday Tree Planting!

Friday Tree Planting!

On Friday, Jim opped out of the office to do a spot of tree planting. Not content with a tree planted with every order (we are now up to 200 trees) we wanted to take part in something a little closer to home so we could see for ourselves what goes into getting a forest started. We joined the University of Bath, Co-Forest and The Sustainable Technologies Business Hub north of Bristol at Co-Forest's latest fortest field. A 9 acre field outside the village of Almondsbury, under the watchful eye of the Severn Bridge.

Tree Planting

During the day over 40 guests gathered to help get more trees into the ground. It was possibly the finest weather of the year so far, which isn't saying much, but the sun was shining and a lot was achieved. According to Co-Forest we planted 450 new trees in just the single day. The event included hot teas and coffees around the Co-forest truck and the chance to network with like minded businesses from across the South West.

If you are looking for an alternative work day out and some team building then you could easily combine a bit of Carbon offsetting (tree planting) with the chance to get outdoors together. The Ethical Trader currently use Ecologi to plant their trees in Madagascar and Nicaragua. We are however always looking for new ways to ocntribute to our environment, especially a bit closer to home.
